The Centre for Refining & Petrochemicals
The Center holds over two decades of research-cum business experience and expertise in; petroleum refining, petrochemicals, and polymers. The Center has a devoted research work force, and thirteen (13) laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art instruments. As the overall research is of an interdisciplinary nature, several of the researchers are drawn from the University departments of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The Center has so far completed more than fifty five (55) projects exceeding valuation of 73 Million Saudi Riyals.
The competence of the Center includes:
Inorganic, organic, organometallic, and polymer synthesis; Synthesis and modification of catalysts; Analytical and instrumental expertise;
Reaction engineering; Product development and characterization;
Polymer stabilization and polymer-additive evaluation.

To be a leading research center in petroleum refining & petrochemicals through innovative basic and applied research.
Mission
To conduct client-driven research in petroleum refining and petrochemicals topics that are of strategic importance to Saudi Arabia.
Objectives
To be the primary source and focal point of research and development and technical support for the refining and petrochemicals industries in the Kingdom.
